Space Camp 2002 is up and running!!! We have six students who will be joining Chaperones Deb Lewis and Lea Nagel for this exciting adventure.
SCI-VIS is an exciting program conducted at the US Space and Rocket Centre in Huntsville, Alabama. Each year, 200 students with vision impairments from all over the world gather for the six-day program. The students live in a simulated space station and participate in activities designed to develop their leadership and teamwork skills as they prepare for two simulated space missions, which are undertaken in life-sized models of a space shuttle, space station and mission control.
En route, students will also visit Disneyland and Universal Studios in Los Angeles.
Here is what the students have to say about their planned trip:
Kyle: I thought it would be a good experience and a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet people and get a bit of motivation to maybe be an astronaut or work for NASA. Fundraising will be hard but it will be well worth it.
Natasha: I'm looking forward to going to Space Camp because it's Maths related - I know it sounds crazy but I'm crazy! I've never been overseas before, except for occasional trips to Phillip Island. I'm not looking forward to wearing space suits all the time - so unfashionable - I can't see it matching my hair.
Glen: I hope to experience new things and meet new people from around the world.
